Pruning - Your front landscaping may require pruning for optimal growth and appearance, depending on the type of plant material you have. We prune for plant health, vigor, maximum flower development and desirable size of the plant.
Re-Mulching - The natural mulch used in your back, side and front landscaping will need top dressing as it breaks down. Re-mulching will improve the appearance of the landscape, provide needed protection for the roots of the plant material, retain moisture and limit weed growth. Certain natural mulches will repel some insects.
How to Thicken Up Your Lawn In Heavy Shaded Areas:
Trim back thick vegetation and prune trees that shade large portions of your lawn. Too much shade is a common cause of thin lawns, and giving your grass increased exposure to sunlight can help thicken it.
Mow your lawn to a height of 3 to 3 1/2 inches to prepare your lawn for over-seeding. By cutting the grass, you make it possible for the new seed to move down through the canopy of existing grass more easily. This also exposes the new seed to sunlight, which aids in the germination process.
When you have the lawn aerated it will provide the root zone with greater access to air, water, and fertilizer. This access to air, water, and nutrients, improves the overall health of the turf. When you seed the shaded areas after an aeration this will allow for grass seed to fall into holes for better protection of the grass seed
Lightly watering your lawn twice a day until the new seed sprouts will be beneficial.
Fertilizing your lawn will help the seed to germinate and promote healthy root growth.
Clean Up the Leaves, We know raking leaves is no one's idea of fun, but it's important to remove fallen leaves from your lawn as soon as possible. If leaves are not removed they will become wet from rain and morning dew, they can form an impenetrable mat that if left on the lawn will suffocate the grass and breed fungal diseases!!!
